A brilliant way to spend a morning and afternoon in Colombo to get to know the culinary flavors of the country is to join the lovely Mohara Dole at her home and join her at the stove and participate in ‘Cooking by Color’. Drawing inspiration from her Malay heritage and the rich traditions of her Sinhalese and Tamil friends and neighbors, she has devised a repertoire of rices, curries, sambols and salads that differ in taste, aroma, color and flavor.
This professional cooking class takes place in Mohara’s home in the suburbs of Colombo. She has the demonstration on the terrace where she will cook and show you how to prepare a range of delicious Sri Lankan dishes, which when presented are indeed colorful and distinct in taste. Mohara’s no-fuss approach means that the art of curry making is made simple and easy to replicate at home. After cooking you will sit down to enjoy lunch together. The program includes fresh fruit juice, lunch and a recipe leaflet to take home as well as a sample of Mohara’s freshly ground spices.
